We researched Built In’s 2023 Best Places to Work to identify how widespread the adoption of social impact programs is amongst these leading employers.

Best Places to Work Social Impact - Overall

Across the Best Places to Work, we found that:

87% of the Best Places to Work offer employees at least one social impact benefit.

This could be any of volunteering in their local community, partnering with nonprofits, matching charitable contributions, and/or paid volunteer time off (VTO). Whatever the employers choose, it’s clear that the Best Places to Work know what top talent cares about — corporate social impact.

Here is a breakdown of each benefit:

62% of companies offer to volunteer in the local community.

50% of companies offer nonprofit partnerships.

45% of companies offer to match charitable contributions.

59% of companies offer paid volunteer time.

These results are impressive but not surprising given that corporate social responsibility (CSR) is the one unique program that can positively improve all three of these critical areas, simultaneously: employee engagement, employee retention, and employer brand.

Best Places to Work Social Impact - By Size

We also broke down the companies based on employee counts. It’s clear companies of all sizes are increasingly embracing social impact benefits.

84% of companies with 250-499 employees offer at least one social impact benefit.

90% of companies with 500-999 employees offer at least one social impact benefit.

92% of companies with 1,000-2,499 employees offer at least one social impact benefit.

84% of companies with 2,500-4,999 employees offer at least one social impact benefit.

86% of companies with 5,000-9,999 employees offer at least one social impact benefit.

77% of companies with 10,000-24,999 employees offer at least one social impact benefit.

90% of companies with 25,000+ employees offer at least one social impact benefit.

Social impact benefits come in various forms, including volunteer programs, charitable giving, sustainability initiatives, and community engagement activities. These benefits not only empower employees to make a difference but also foster a sense of purpose and unity within the workplace.

Doing good has long been good for business. Now, doing good is required for business. Join the movement of companies dedicated to creating a positive impact on society. Together, we can build a better future and inspire change, one social impact benefit at a time.
