This year, we celebrated Earth Day not just by talking about conservation but by actively participating in it through our Earth Day Wildlife Conservation Virtual Volunteer Event. Powered by Percent Pledge, this first-of-its-kind Community Volunteer Event (CVE) was a resounding success that turned passion into action, offering an unforgettable and impactful experience exclusively for Percent Pledge customers.
Our goal was to harness the widespread enthusiasm for Earth Day to create a meaningful and engaging experience for our community. We succeeded beyond expectations, engaging a diverse group from 32 companies, with 168 registrants and a remarkable 74% attendance rate.
In total, 125 dedicated volunteers showed up to contribute their time and skills, undertaking the crucial task of identifying, counting, and tracking wild beluga whales through underwater photo analysis. This vital work helps scientists gather essential data on the age, sex, and group dynamics of belugas, contributing to ongoing efforts to understand and preserve these majestic creatures.
Our volunteers' efforts resulted in over 5,500 animals being identified, with 125 hours of service provided, translating into an impressive $13,875 of in-kind value.
The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the event's success and the meaningful engagement it fostered.
